Anna’s nest

I would never have noticed this Anna’s Hummingbird nest if not for the sanctuary volunteer chatting with some other guests, and then the mom actually flying in. Those little-bitty nests are made of moss, lichen and spider silk (stolen from spider webs—yes seriously) and are super inconspicuous! The volunteers know of 4 Anna’s nests and 2 Rufous nests. There are probably more!
