Atomium

I’d been intrigued by this thing since I saw it in some music video way back when — maybe by Simple Minds? Anyway, it’s way bigger than I expected. Those connections between spheres can comfortably hold escalators / elevators.

It turns out it was made for a 1958 Expo, partly funded by aviation companies (I think) and the inside is so full of delicious retro 1950’s futurism I could just weep.
