Bruges City Hall
An opulent late-Gothic building finished in the early 1400’s, this is one of the oldest city halls in the Low Countries.
It seems to be the style of government buildings in this neck of the woods to sport lots of flags. Left to right, we see the EU, Belgian and Flemish (black lion on yellow background) flags. The far right one may be that of Bruges (blue Flemish lion on red and white stripes), or more likely the province of West Flanders (red shield with radiating blue and yellow lines).
Regardless, I like it. It says they have a distinct history and identity, but are also part of larger interconnected communities, and both aspects are celebrated.
