Mud pots

On the way back we swung by a cool geothermal area to the east of Mývatn, called Námafjall hverir (“mining mountain hot springs”), full of these bubbling mud pots and sulfurous vents. They smell kind of like rotten eggs, and kind of like rotten eggs that have been marinating in some demonic hellbroth a thousand metres below the surface.
