Napoleon III

I had to zoom in on the top of this corner tower to notice that the guy at the centre of the cornice is Napoleon III. And that’s super interesting because while he did have the north wing built in the 1850s, this bit is on the south wing. Guess he decided to make his mark in other ways too.

Maybe the lesson is that even buildings are processes. It’s easy to think they’re static and unchanging, especially if they’re old, but that just ain’t so!
