Either we'll figure out the sea, or we'll keep finding beautiful places.
Pjetur Pjetursson
Pjetur Pjetursson, fourth Bishop (Lutheran) of Iceland. 1808 — 1891. That’s the first time I’ve seen the name spelled that way, it’s always been “Pétur” (though you get the same pronunciation). Guess that’s how they did it in Olden Days?
Well, it is the Danish way of spelling it. I am the great-great-grandchild of Pjetur (living in Denmark), and I have various books and communications of his. When young, studying in Denmark, he was called Hr. Peter Petersen, but later he probably put in the “j” to make sure that he was pronounced correctly and not mistaken for being a measly Dane!
