Old Orchard Park
Another look at the heron babbies. I think we just hit the end of our viewing window. Much later than this and they would be starting to leave the nests. But right now we’ve got some pics of these adorable little muppety monsters.

Blakeburn Lagoons Park
I don’t think I visited here before and it’s… fine? Your usual assortment of duckies and whatnot, but not really anything that makes it stand out. Well, except the fact that it’s a reclaimed wastewater site in the middle of deepest darkest suburbia, that part is really interesting. Plus, it’s a nice little spot for jogging and such.

No great birb pics, but here’s a lovely Tiger Swallowtail!

DeBoville Slough (north trail)
Another new spot! Not sure what it would offer, but it at least looked like a nice trail leading to Pitt River. Also here’s a Red-tailed Hawk, I think?

And here’s a female Eight-spotted Skimmer having a little rest in reach of our cameras.

I mean it’s okay I guess

Oh look, even more gorgeous scenery.

Hey, an Osprey nest, right across from the trail as it turns north to hug the river. At first there wasn’t much to see, just this bird presumably sitting on eggs and panting in the sun…

… but then it went for a little flap up the river a ways, and came back. I don’t think it was actually fishing, just needed to stretch its wings a bit.

On the way back we saw a bear casually strolling through the neighbouring fields like it owned the place. That’s Coquitlam for you!
