Reifel on a Tuesday

Just because?

I don’t remember what I was doing at Reifel by myself on a weekday. Just taking advantage of adequate weather, maybe? Sure, that would track, especially since I had to do a shortened birbing session the previous Saturday.

The weather was only “adequate”, though. Not rainy but mostly kind of overcast, which meant less than ideal light for my art.

Still, we make do. The dowitchers were present and numerous, and very close to the little walkway behind the main office so I could get some nice close shots.

And here’s a dowitcher… swimming in one of the side ponds? I’ve never seen them do that!

Then of course we have the usual suspects:

… a hungry junco…

… and a fluffy towhee.

Is this pintail coming out of eclipse colours? I don’t know, but it might be!

But this wigeon lady is equally pretty all year round!

The sun came out near the end, and hit this golden-crown just right!
