Fierce yellow eyes

They drill into my soul

I see these little brown puffballs all the time on the seawall and around parks, descending on trees a dozen at a time to forage, hopping and flitting from branch to branch, then flying away just as quickly. It means lots of photo ops, but they don’t make it easy for me!

Still, sometimes the stars align and I get great shots. I was a little bit annoyed at some of the shadows — twigs, or their own faces turned away from the sun — but I think it actually makes then realer, more three-dimensional. Not everything has to be perfectly posed, and that’s okay.

Also for some reason, it looks like all the models here are adult females with their pale yellow eyes, so intense and stern. I love it, it gives their photos so much character!
