A brief spot of golden hour

I think the heron liked it

Piper Spit

The weather started out a bit overcast amd gloomy, hence today consisted only of a short swing by Piper Spit and ƛ̓éxətəm.

The cormorants are still there, write that down!

A group of Double-crested Cormorants in the distance, standing in shallow water and airing their wings. In the background, on the opposite side of the lake, are brownish reeds and. behind those, fog-shrouded trees and a grey sky

And then sometimes I try something new. It’s not often you see a pretty flower all beaded up like that!

But I never get tired of this sight! The soft clouds are a delight, lit with an early prelude of of late-afternoon direct sunlight, nicely complemented by all these brownish reeds.

This immature Great Blue was fishing down by the little canals (unsuccessfully), then decided to climb up and check out the sunset as the clouds parted.

Pretty clouds!

Shooting away from the sunset. The grasses and trees are tinged a little gold, as are the wispy clouds. Two human shadows are just visible in the lower right

Pretty layers!

Pretty pond!
