Black-crowned Night Heron

It was some distance away from the main trail, in the same spot I saw them last year. My new gear allowed me to zoom in closer than last year, but I couldn’t make it pose. As the name implies, these critters are mainly nocturnal and do not wake up for the paparazzi.
