Jan Hus monument

Jan Hus was a 14th — 15th century theologian and Church reformer (the movement he founded is considered a key predecessor to Protestantism), executed by Church authorities.┬áThis monument was put up in 1915, on the 500th anniversary of his burning at the stake. It includes various Hussite warriors, and a young mother symbolising national rebirth.

According to Wikipedia, Jan Hus became a symbol of of dissidence against oppressive regimes to the people of Bohemia—first the Habsburgs and the Catholic Church, then Communist rule.
