Orange House Finch

Fun fact about House Finches: males’ colouration depends on their diet. Specifically, the amount of carotenoids they get. Normally a rich strawberry red, you occasionally see this washed-out orange or even yellowish for birds whose diet is a bit lacking, or can’t process carotene for whatever reason.
