Scenic detour

Instead of keeping to the main road and taking the long way, the guide decided to take a much more scenic shortcut, through some lava fields. He was assured by the ladies in the reading club at the Grundarfjörður cafe we’d stopped at, that there would be a road through to the highway.

Here we are looking looking up the north half of Hraunsfjarðarvatn. I think. Might still be Kolgrafafjörður, before we turn straight south
