Systrafoss

a.k.a. “Sisters Fall”. According to Wikipedia it was named after the nuns of the nearby Kirkjubæjar Abbey. But our guide told us a story about two actual sisters: one died and the other, grieving, took her own life by jumping off this cliff. So now they’re together in death.

Maybe it’s a mix of both? There really was a nuns’ cloister here for centuries, but this double waterfall is unique enough to give rise to all sorts of stories…
