Sandhill cranes may eat fish, but don’t hunt like herons do since their necks aren’t as strong and flexible, and their beaks don’t look as sturdy—so none of that explosive muscle-powered stabbyface. Generally they’ll eat whatever they can forage: small fish, rodents or lizards, assorted invertebrates, turtle eggs, and they’re okay with grain and grass too.
