Near the south side of Mývatn (“Lake of midges”, because they’re apparently numerous and bitey in the summer). Quite arid and as you can see, spring is yet to come in this region. Bit of luck for us: the snow dressed up the ground and mountains nicely, instead of leaving them in various boring shades of grey or brown
