Zaanse Schans

We started off that day by visiting the heritage village of Zaanse Schans, full of windmills, 18th-19th century style houses, and museums. Complete with goats-as-lawnmowers, apparently.

In the foreground is a weeping willow. Willow branches have a number of traditional uses, being very flexible and easily worked. Trees are kept trimmed down like this but branches can grow very quickly.
