Yearbook ready

A relatively brief visit to Reifel before volleyball tryouts, because I couldn’t not visit. The weather was fine, though there was more cloud cover than I would have liked. And at this time of year there’s not a lot of variety in

Two bird condos out in the marshes. On the left one is a Purple Martin, on the right one is a Red-winged Blackbird.

The faraway edge of the marsh beyond the North Dike trail. There is a little lsland in a sort of marshy bay. Two Bald Eagles are sitting on that island: one adult, one juvenile

At the end of the West Dyke were an assortment of Mallard families, with babies ranging from “teeny” to “gangly teen” and they were all gorgeous.

Close up profile shot of an adolescent Mallard duck. Its juvenile patterns are still visible, but it's much bigger and scruffier

And the latest installment of my “waterfowl emerging from the water” series:

I’ll leave you with one look at this shallow pond not far from the entrance. Yeah, the scenery is all right here!

A Reifel pond. There is a row of ponds near our side, and a number of Mallards here and there doing Mallard things. In the background are lush green trees, and above is a thin broken cloud cover
