More like Grey-ie Spit, amirite?

Sometimes that’s all you get

It was a grey and dimly lit day, and a big part of me yearned for proper light. But hey, photography waits for no man! And I always say, when life gives you clouds, you make moody as hell landscape shots. Or something.

Blackie Spit

Some towers on the opposite shore. Have I shot those before? I looked for them on Google Maps but couldn’t find them. Well, they’re pretty, so there you go.

Here are a bunch of wigeons in flight!

Great Blues are very good at standing still of course, but it’s unusual to see them standing belly-deep in water.

A look at the actual Blackie Spit and the rail bridge across Mud Bay in the distance, all muddy and gloomy.

Muddy and gloomy. Moody

Oh, here’s a Eurasian Wigeon! We do see them from time to time.

And of course the classics never go out of style: the Maple Street Pumphouse, and the mossy remains of that boardwalk across the bay.

Burnaby Lake / Piper Spit

The day only got dimmer and greyer as we got to Piper Spit. Lots of ducks around — they don’t mind the weather, of course — but those photos didn’t turn out so great, so here are more landscape shots!

Okay, fine, here’s one bird.

Hi, Nick!

The towers you noticed are at the northeast corner of Hwy 99 and 104 St. You probably didn’t look that far inland on the map, but there’s nothing blocking your view from that angle.

Also, I think your RSS feed is 5 weeks behind, because I just saw this post today. 🙂

Sweet, thank you!

You’re right that I wasn’t looking that far inland, and also I was looking further west, not in that general area.

My RSS feed is fine, I just posted this this morning! I am very behind on my blogging 🙂
