Common Bluet in flight

One of a zillion Common Bluets hovering just a few cm above the ground. Exposure time was 1/1000s, and it looks like I managed to catch two of its wings as they paused on the up or down beat. As I’m sure you know, dragonflies and damselflies have four wings that can operate pretty much independently, allowing them to hover in place or perform incredible acrobatics.
