Coronation mantle

Closeup of the coronation mantle of kings and emperors in the Holy Roman Empire. Dating to 1134CE, it was made in the workshops of Palermo that employed, among others, Arabic artisans—note the Arabic writing around the edge, as well as design elements like palm trees, lions and camels.
