Dagobert

Tomb of Dagobert, King of the Franks 629–639. The first king buried here, and is considered the abbey’s founder, back when it was an abbey.

The carvings tell a story of the King being almost carried off to hell by some demons, but then being saved by some saints including Saint-Denis.
