Entrée du port de La Rochelle

Entrée du port de La Rochelle (“Entrance to the Port of La Rochelle”) — Paul Signac, 1921

Okay now we’re in the Neo-Impressionists. As I understand it, they followed the same general subject matter as Impressionists, but used a more scientific study of colour with (it seems) a whole lot of pointillism. Though this is a later painting, so with these saturated and almost unrealistic colours, I’m going to guess he was more influenced by Fauvism and wasn’t going for accuracy.
